Influenza is very infectious and can cause serious illness among people aged 65 years or over (by 31.03.26) or those of any age with particular medical conditions including pregnant ladies. Levels of flu infection rise during the winter months. The best way to protect yourself against flu is by having the flu vaccine every year. Flu vaccine is both safe and effective.
Eligible patients for flu and covid vaccines can book into our Wednesday clinics between 12 noon and 12:25.
Patients over 65 (by 31.03.26) or patients in a clinical at risk group under 65 are eligible for the flu vaccine. Family contacts of patients who are immunosuppressed and live in the same household are also eligible for the flu vaccine.
Patients over 75 (by 31.03.26) and patients under 75 who are immunosuppressed are eligible for the covid vaccine this year.
